I invite you to visit the newest Sacred Images gallery of planetary yantra. Here you will find yantra representing Sun, Moon, Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, Venus and Mercury.

Plans are to expand the planetary selection with Ketu and Rahu, along with adding additional interpretations of the various planets. A planetary yantra, used alone or in conjunction with specific corresponding individual planetary mantra, can be effectively used as a propitiatory device to either enhance beneficial possibilities, or to aid in circumventing less favorable tendencies according to oneʼs individual Vedic astrological chart.

These yantra can be ordered as prints in the standard sizes offered by Sacred Images. If the size desired is not met by the sizes listed, please feel free to contact me at: pennylea@sacredimagespublishing.com, so that the appropriate size can be ordered on an individual basis.

To learn more about Vedic astrology, or to determine which planetary yantra is most appropriate for you, please visit the website of the Northwest Institute of Vedic Sciences.

New also you will find additional images available in both the original Yantra and Sacred Images Collection galleries.

Planetary Mantras

From Healing Mantras by the late Thomas Ashley-Farrand

Once you have the information contained in your natal chart, you can begin working on your life with a clear idea of where to start. The Sanskrit mantras below translate roughly to “Salutations to the presiding spirit of the planet __________.” The Vedas teach that everything has consciousness within it. They also say that planets and stars are conscious in a way that is completely different from the way in which we humans are conscious.

Below are short forms of mantras for seven planets (the karmic nodes of the moon will be included soon). If you are having difficulty in some part of your life, find the planetary mantra that seems to come closest to it and work with that mantra.

Short Planetary Mantra

Om Suryaya Namaha
(Om Soor-yah-yah Nahm-ah-ha)
“Om and salutations to Surya, presiding spirit of the Sun”

Om Chandraya Namaha
(Om Chanhn-drah-yah Nahm-ah-ha)
“Om and salutations to Chandra, presiding spirit of the Moon”

Om Angarakaya Namaha
(Om Ahng-gah-rah-kah-ya Nahm-ah-ha)
“Om and salutations to the presiding spirit of the planet Mars”

Om Budhaya Namaha
(Om Bood-hah-yah Nahm-ah-ha)
“Om and salutations to Buddha, presiding spirit of the planet Mercury”

Om Guruve Namaha
(Om Goo-rah-vey Nahm-ah-ha)
“Om and salutations to Guru, presiding spirit of the planet Jupiter”

In Shukraya Namaha
(Om Shoo-krah-yah Nahm-ah-ha)
“Om and salutations to Shukra, presiding spirit of the planet Venus”

Om Shanaishcharaya Namaha
(Om Shahn-eish-chahr-eye-yah Nahm-ah-ha)

The ending of the Sanskrit word for the planet Saturn, “Shani,” changes endings depending upon the use of Namaha (neutral ending) or Swaha (feminine ending). Thus, for the mantra ending with ‘namaha,’ the mantra is “Om Sri Shanaishcharaya Namaha” but for the ‘swaha’ ending the mantra is “Om Sri Shanaishwaraya Swaha.”

Om Shanaishwaraya Swaha
(Om Shahn-eish-wahr-eye-yah Swa-ha)
“Om and salutations to Shani, presiding spirit of the planet Saturn”

When the energy of the body rises to the solar plexus, as it does at age twenty-nine, the addition of ‘Sri’ to the mantra aids the work of the mantra. The ending then changes from ‘namaha’ to ‘swaha’.

Rahu (North Node of the Moon)

Om Rahuve Namaha
(Om Rah-hoo-vey Nahm-ah-ha)
“Om and salutations to Rahu, presiding spirt of the North Node of the Moon”

Ketu (South Node of the Moon)

Om Ketuve Namaha
(Om Key-too-vey Nahm-ah-ha)
“Om and salutations to Ketu, presiding spirit of the South Node of the Moon”
